If you have been following the new season 6 update, you probably know about most of the exciting new content, but there were some juicy tidbits "hidden" in the patch notes that I would love to share with you!
NEW CONTROVERSIAL KILLSTREAK: FORESIGHT
Reportedly picked up from secret bunkers and the A.E. Train Station stop, it permanently reveals every circle on the map at once, similar to if you had completed a bunch of Recon missions. Some players love the addition, whereas others see it as an unfair advantage that promotes camping. Personally I do not think the vast majority of players will be negatively affected by this killstreak, but I would like to see how it plays out. I do think that it adds a bit of fun and nuance to the game for those looking to seek it out. One caveat to this killstreak is you will most likely be competing against other like-minded players to aquire it in the first place.
NEW RANDOM LOOT DROP: SELF REVIVE
I cant find any mention of the Self Revive in the patch notes but I was delighted to come across them as ground loot when I played the new season. Once picked up, they will be bound to your character until death or use. I always noted in the past that you could not pick them up, making them the most valuable thing at the buy station before Season 6. They are still more valuable than say, the gas mask, in this way due to the fact that Self-Revives can still not be picked up off of dead players.
C4 NERF
"C4: Slight delay when performing a quick detonation. A beep will now play when quick detonation is triggered. Also reduced throw initial velocity by 30%"
I have tested this in-game and it quite a noticable difference. It does not fly as far as it used to and I am happy that they are making this change (sorry C4 lovers!). In my opinion the C4 has been needlessly overpowered as a lethal in Warzone and I see it used often by higher ranked players. This is because it was ridiculously easy to throw over objects at enemies and always 1-hit every vehicle (except the truck). The C4 also sees a lot of use because it gives players the ability to engage with vehicles without wasting a weapon slot on a launcher.
ORIGIN 12 NERF & SHOTGUNS BUFF
"Origin 12: Reduced very close damage in Warzone"
"Shotguns: Increased damage of slugs in Warzone"
I am happy with Infinity Ward for jumping on top of this one. Shotguns (really the Origin 12) have been controversial in Warzone lately and generally considered to be overpowered at close range during Season 5.
Of course shotguns are designed to be a superior weapon at close range, but the Origin 12 was a bit too much. It was killing most players easily in a few quick shots at such a speed that nothing could compete with, which may make sense in real life but at the end of the day is was just frustrating to go up against.
To top it off, two variants of the Origin 12 had been added to the game as common loot in Season 5, increasing the usage of the weapon and bringing attention to its strength. Gaining attention online, it quickly became a “meta” weapon, causing players to pick it up more and select it in their loadouts as well. That being said, I feel like up until now all the other shotguns have been underpowered in Warzone so I am curious if the increased damage of the slug rounds will help balance them out into something that feels fair.
FIXED GAMEBREAKING BUG BY THE HOSPITAL
“Fix for an issue where a fence with a white tarp over it near the Hospital was allowing players to see through it on one side.”
Saw this bug on reddit a while ago, and although I don't think the average player had any idea this bug even existed I am still glad it was fixed swiftly (in game developer time).
NVIDIA REFLEX FOR PC USERS
“NVIDIA Reflex is now available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, including Warzone, and will deliver latency improvements in GPU-intensive gaming scenarios on GeForce GTX 900 and higher NVIDIA graphics cards”
As a NVIDIA user I am very happy about this! I think I am with all gamers in that I will the take extra computing performance wherever I can! If you don't see this option for NVIDIA REFLEX in your settings make sure you have the lastest NVIDIA drivers installed!
